More Stellar Red Sox Fan Behavior

This is like shooting fish in a barrel. Am I pushing it with my largely Red Sox sympathetic readership by publishing another classic example of Red Sox fan behavior so soon after the last one (2 days ago)? Maybe, but hey, I'm just passing on the news as it comes to me. It's part of being a blogger. Also, the Yankees are coming to town for a three game series tomorrow, so, you know, it's on. And it gives dewy24 a chance to argue about something in his wheelhouse, so he doesn't have to foolishly take out his anger on Lionel Messi.

and if you're really bored, check out the comments from some of the douchebox commenters on the Deadspin post (from where I got the vid).

Yankees update please.

Update:

The Yankees came to Boston this weekend, started their # 3 pitcher and two rookies against the top 3 pitchers of what is touted as the best staff in baseball, played without 3 of their stars (Matsui, Damon, Posada) for big stretches of the series, and lost 3 very close games. Yankee Fan Concern on a scale of 0 to 10 (10 being the most concerned): 1.

Next weekend: Yankee Stadium.

I actually agree with you (see my post today). I have no idea who Kevin Thompson is but in 2 separate occasions I said, "there is no way we are going to lose because of Kevin Thompson." Putting the Yankees at concern level 1 seems a bit low though. Sox are constantly at a concern level of 5 but I'm a Sox fan and despite 2004 still kind of expect the worse. Mariano looks more than shaky and I'm convinced Joe Torre has lost his mind and has no idea how to be a game manager any more. One year from now Don Mattingly will be the manager.

I'm actually surprised that you didn't hear me from Allston on Friday night when I was screaming at Joe Torre to pinch hit 7 year league veterans Josh Phelps or Miguel Cairo for Kevin Thompson (who may have 3 or 4 career at bats) in the 9th. He looked like he was actually shitting his pants at the plate. Joe is losing it for sure.

As far as Mariano is concerned, he had two very similar starts the last two Aprils and finished those seasons with ERAs of 1.38 and 1.80. I'm not pushing the panic button just yet.

I know I'm late to this discussion, but what's the point of this post? A Red Sox fan in Toronto threw a beer at somebody? Good video capture of the scene (same for the pizza throw). But I don't know if I'd say "classic Red Sox fan" here.

On the other hand, how do you explain the behavior in this one, with the Yankee fans in Yankee Stadium singing "Why Are You Gay" set to "YMCA": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yBoV0C9HIeA
This is apparently somewhat typical behavior there, as everybody knows the words and there are at least three different videos on youtube showing it. Seems like a pretty screwed up "tradition" if you ask me.

I'd rather own either the pizza or the beer over this crap (well, who doesn't want to own the pizza? that was great).

yes, you are quite late to this discussion. Please see the comments section of the pizza post in which dewy24 already covered that video content.

thanks!

Yeah, he's quick.

Speaking of Joe Torre's horrendous game management so far this year, I give you nomaas.org's analysis of last night's loss. It's truly ridiculous. Grady Little's got nothing on him:

1. Taking out Damon & Phelps with a 1-run lead in the 7th inning...and replacing them with automatic outs, Melky & Doug M. These substitutes each came to the plate in the 9th inning with the Yankees losing, and did what they do best -- make outs.

2. Pulling Chien-Ming Wang after 81 pitches with a bullpen on life support.

3. Bringing in Vizcaino to issue an intentional walk to Rocco Baldelli. Why would you ever bring in a reliever and have his first action be an IBB?

4. Bringing in Vizcaino in the hopes of inducing a double play (after issuing the IBB to load the bases), when Viz has been a flyball pitcher throughout his career (0.88 G/F). What makes it even more crazy is that he took out one of the league's premiere groundball pitchers (Wang) to do this.
