Pan-Mass Portraiture Please

Tomorrow officially kicks off the 2006 Pan-Mass Portraiture - PTown to Pittsfield - tour, when I hang 8 to 10 paintings at Spiritus Pizza in Provincetown. They'll be up for the next three weeks. It was looking like I was going to get a July show at a restaurant in Easthampton (next to my old stomping grounds in Noho), but the woman hasn't emailed me in a week, so I'm thinking that might not happen. We'll see. Here are drafts of the postcards I'm making up for the show(s):

I'm going to be busy with that and then I'm off to New Orleans on Thursday for Jazzfest, so this will probably be the last VTK post of the week.

Happy Yankees-RedSox Day 2006!

Good luck on the shows.

What is the background on your draft postcards? It looks like lavender satin sheets to me. What is the meaning of this?

I think they're faces or, er, portraits. The first one looks like Santa. Or Jake! But yeah, good show, good luck and all that.

yes, lc, they're faces. you get 2 points and are currently leading dewy, 2 - 0. but the first one is a black woman, not my father, so I'm going to have to deduct a point. 1 - 0.

What kind of crazy competitive Rorschach test is this? I'm in though and want some points.

If I squint I see a snake rolling a donut.

if you mean "rolling" in the slang sense of mugging someone/thing, then you've just earned 2 points and are currently in the lead.

ef! i see now the nostrils are what I thought were eyes and what I thought was a snowy white mustache is the upper lip. Nice use of light and shadow. Can I earn points with flattery? No deductions for lavender sheets?! Curses.

score update:

lc: loses 1 pt for ... well, I still don't see how that would look like Jake, but that may be me. so, no deduction. and pos 2 pts for flattery.

dewy: retroactive lavender sheet assumption deduction of 1 pt.

lc: 3
dewy: 1

also, based on reader reaction, I can't justify an entire post on this, but regarding tonight's episode of Lost:

what the fuck.

and on that note, I'm off to New Orleans to get a staph infection from some random airborne disease. cheers.

Don't know if you have seen this yet:

I know, I'm a dork....but it's a cool site. Dial 877-HANSORG for the password to the site. I'd tell you what it is but it's more fun to do it yourself.

1 more LOST factoid...if you go to the Hanso website and don't feel like devoting hours of your life to cracking the mysteries on your own, you can go to www.thelostexperience.com - they have already done it.
